* Fundamentals of care – the bar below which no care provider must fall
* Changes to the way the CQC will inspect NHS acute and independent hospitals and mental health trusts

3. Help shape engagement between learning disability groups (in the widest sense) , Care Quality Commission and the voluntary and community sector in London
The CQC is looking for representatives from learning disability groups in London to take part in a focus group with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on Monday 15th July from 11 am to 3 pm. The CQC is the independent regulator for health and social care in England. The overall aim of the focus group is to explore how we can better share information with each other about the quality and safety of care.
The venue will be confirmed shortly and we will reimburse travel expenses for individual service users. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We are looking specifically for representatives from learning disability groups and representatives from specialist groups or networks (including autism, dyslexia, etc). Councils for Voluntary Services are also very welcome.
This is the first opportunity to help shape and develop the relationship between the CQC and the VCS to ensure that the voices of people with learning disabilities who use health and adult social care services are better heard. It is about working together to ensure that the care provided by hospitals, dentists, ambulances, care homes and services in people’s own homes and elsewhere meet national standards of quality and safety.
You can register online to book your place. Alternatively, you can email Sandra van der Feen: sandra@lvsc.org.uk. Places are limited and will be offered on a First Come First Serviced basis, but every effort will be made to ensure representation across London. Venue details and a full programme will become available in the next few weeks.
